Traditional acupuncture is a healthcare system based on ancient principles which go back nearly two thousand years. It has a very positive model of good health and function, and looks at pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment is to restore the body's equilibrium. What makes this system so uniquely suited to modern life is that physical, emotional and mental are seen as interdependent, and reflect what many people perceive as the connection between the different aspects their lives. Based on traditional belief, acupuncturists are trained to use subtle diagnostic techniques that have been developed and refined for centuries. The focus is on the individual, not their illness, and all the symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Each patient is unique; two people with the same western diagnosis may well receive different acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture is a gentle, safe, effective and natural way of treating many conditions, acupuncture is now widely used and accepted all over the world. Judy decided to pursue a career in acupuncture after experiencing the positive change that it had on her own lifestyle and wellbeing, this was complimented by her own previous experience in western medicine, coming from a background in nursing. Judy obtained her Licentiate in Acupuncture, and BA (Hons) degree in Traditional Acupuncture, in the classical Five Element style, from the internationally renowned College of Traditional Acupuncture, Warwickshire. Judy treats patients with a diverse range of conditions and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council; as such Judy abides by the Council's Code of Safe Practice and Code of Professional Conduct, and is covered by full professional indemnity insurance in addition to a licence to practice acupuncture. All personal information is treated in the strictest confidence in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988. Judy continues to update her practice skills by attending courses, workshops and other programmes that offer continuing professional development.
